Working at Skyline is all about having fun and creating mind-boggling software while we’re at it. From thinkers to doers, from creators to implementers; everyone plays a unique and essential role in our common goal to create an extraordinary software platform used by over a thousand companies worldwide.

Skyline Communications our culture

[Preface]

We are entering the age of Digital Transformation. And in this age, everything is dictated by change.

Changing working habits, changing consumer behavior, changing business models, and of course changing technology. They each influence each other, creating an ever-changing environment.

And if change is the motor of this new age, then data is its fuel. Data is everything, and everything is data. Being successful largely depends on how efficiently you can capture, analyze, and utilize data.

Our company is in a unique position to combine these two key ingredients and turn them into an out-of-the-box solution. A solution that propels ICT, media and broadband organizations into a data-driven, transformational future and makes sure they can thrive in it.

All by creating a software platform that goes beyond the normal, exceeds the probable, and touches the impossible.

And for this, we need creators. They’re our most important resource. While we are fully invested in building a culture that cultivates creators, they can completely focus on creating a platform that empowers worldwide change.

Let’s change the world together.

- Ben, Bert & Frederik Vandenberghe

Our [rules]

Guess what? There are no rules!

We wholeheartedly believe that strict rules and regulations kill creativity. What’s the use of having an incredible team of one-of-a-kind individuals if they all have to color inside the same boring lines?

On the other hand, leaving room for imaginary rules is even more dangerous.

So, instead, we’ve chosen the middle ground. We’ve created some guidelines; a blueprint, if you will. The blueprint gives a rough idea of the desired result. But how you get to that result is entirely up to you.

Some examples:

  • You’re free to work from wherever you feel most comfortable, if you show your face at the office at least once a week. Genuine social interaction is a must for a person’s well-being.
  • When you start or finish is entirely up to you. Just be mindful of your team members’ wishes as well.
  • There’s no vacation policy. Because it’s not up to us to say when you could use some time off.
  • Dare to create! Do you have an idea, thought, point of improvement, or complaint? Spill the beans through one of our various channels—or all at the same time. We thrive on creativity and transparency.

We give people the freedom to explore their own ideas and thoughts in favor of a common goal. That way there’s bound to be a natural equilibrium. A place of inclusion and equal opportunities. A home away from home.

Agile [teams]

A company is nothing more than a collection of unique individuals. But it takes more than individuals to create something extraordinary. It takes collaboration and cooperation. That’s when the real magic happens.

The Agile way of working

Everything changes. Constantly. Now even faster than ever before. So we need to brace ourselves for constant change and expect the unexpected. And that’s where agility comes in.

Agility is simply a mindset —a collection of attitudes and behaviors— that focuses on continuity. Here are some examples:

  • Working in close collaboration with the user
  • Creating frequent iterative increments
  • Delivering value from the start
  • Supporting cross-functional and self-organizing teams
  • Enabling short feedback loops

Agility is no longer an option, it’s a must. However, that doesn’t make it self-evident, or easy to pursue. While agility is based on constant change, it is also affected by it. That’s why we have agile coaches who help us and our users in our never-ending quest for operational continuity. Take a look at our agile hub on our free user community to learn more about how agility affects us and our users.

What we [care] about

Above all, we value connection. And guided by our purpose to empower lasting connections worldwide, we create products and solutions that push the boundaries of what’s possible.

Don’t be mistaken, though. We’re not just talking about data connections. We’re talking about genuine human connection. The only connection that really matters.

Invaluable values

We base our every move and step on three universal values:

  • Be kind
  • Be humble
  • Be honest

These may sound obvious, but they’re too often overlooked in a business environment. However, they’re essential ingredients to create real human connections, on the work floor and far beyond.

We celebrate difference. But when it comes to our values, there’s no straying from the path. That’s why it’s so important to choose a company that fully aligns with your personal values. Because what you work for should always reflect what you stand for.

Change for the better

We don’t just empower our users to effect change. We also empower ourselves! To improve the well-being of all people in our company, in our community, and even on our planet, we need to take our responsibility.

Our number one priority is to ensure that all employees have a safe and secure working environment where they feel happy and heard. A culture that empowers creators. A sturdy foundation.

But it doesn’t end there. On the contrary, that’s just the beginning. Our own Skyline community has many touchpoints —connections!— with other communities all around the globe. And we want to contribute to those communities as well, from volunteer activities and fundraising efforts down to every decision we make for our business.

And of course one of the best ways to show we care about people, is showing we care about their home: Earth. We aim to limit our direct and indirect impact on global warming and reduce our environmental footprint with a company-wide program.

In the end, our goal is to leave the planet better than we found it. That’s all.

Equal opportunities

Everyone is unique. And thank goodness for that! We celebrate difference and diversity. We thrive on it.

We hire people based on their merit and qualifications directly related to professional competence. We do not discriminate against anyone because of race, creed, religion, gender or gender identity, disability, or anything else, really.

We value people for who they are. We’re all one-of-a-kind individuals. That’s a blessing, not a curse.

Continuous [growth]

Starting a wonderful new career is not the endgame. It’s just the beginning. Because life is full of exciting new things to learn and discover. And new things keep popping up constantly, especially in our industry.

That’s why we heavily invest in learning and growth opportunities through our own Skyline Academy. Every Skyliner receives a certain amount of learning credits, which they get to spend on training courses of their choice. And there’s plenty to choose from! We offer a wide variety of learning opportunities, ranging from product-specific courses to training sessions on soft skills and leadership, and even higher education opportunities.

Next to that, we also partner up with leading organizations to bring you the crème de la crème of industry-related training programs. This includes certification programs, like AWS or Microsoft Azure, among many others.

Our [collab spaces]

Our Skyliners work from all over the world.

We have some brilliant offices in Belgium, Portugal, Singapore and the US. These offices are where we spend time together, eat together, talk together, and inspire each other. Because work can happen anywhere, but collaboration happens here:

  • Izegem, Belgium
  • Lisbon, Portugal
  • Aveiro, Portugal
  • Singapore, Republic of Singapore
  • Weston, USA (FL)
  • Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • Nad al Sheba, Dubai

You think 5 offices in 4 countries is small potatoes? Well, we’ve got some news for you: we also have a permanent presence in Brazil, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines and the UK. And we’ve got a vast network of local partners around the globe as well.

And to be honest, that’s one of the big perks of working at Skyline. Nothing is more inspiring than working with people from all over the world. Sharing ideas and experiences from people with other cultural habits is just eye-opening. And who knows, maybe your career at Skyline might take you to some of these magical far-away places?
