01 — CHALLENGE
Future-proofing TDF in a rapidly changing digital world
Being an industry leader for over 50 years requires not only business savvy but also an innovative mindset. One of TDF’s key strengths is recognizing when transformation is needed. As the company looked to expand into new markets, like 5G private networks, it became clear that they needed to evolve towards an agile, data-driven powerhouse to support these ambitious growth plans.
This realization prompted a deeper look at the entire infrastructure, including the Network Operations Center (NOC), which is critical to TDF's daily performance. The conclusion was clear: simply replacing legacy systems with next-gen technology wasn’t enough. Instead, TDF sought to reimagine its operations, ensuring they would be flexible and future-ready, capable of seizing new opportunities and adapting to change with confidence.
Digital transformation for TDF isn’t just about keeping pace with industry trends—it’s about building a foundation that allows the company to innovate and lead for decades to come.
02 — SOLUTION
Building a data-driven operation for continuous innovation
TDF had a clear strategy: build a data-driven, scalable platform to tackle the unpredictable challenges of tomorrow while continuing to deliver top-tier services to customers today.
One of the first priorities was upgrading their Network Operations Center (NOC). In their pursuit of innovation, TDF had ended up using a fragmented array of tools as shifting priorities and emerging technologies shaped their operations. This fragmentation led to growing operational and security headaches due to the increasing complexity of their expanding ecosystem.
The solution was simple: find a platform that could consolidate all their data and empower them to standardize processes, streamline operations, and seamlessly integrate with other technologies.
DataMiner emerged as the ideal solution for this transformation. It allowed TDF to build a flexible, future-ready platform capable of continuously evolving in sync with the fast-paced technology landscape. By consolidating all digital capabilities into a single, scalable, and secure architecture, DataMiner not only optimized current operations but also gave TDF the ability to anticipate future challenges and seize new opportunities across all their operational divisions.

DataMiner monitoring FM and DAB transmission
TDF implemented a DataMiner System to monitor all FM and DAB transmission sites across France and overseas territories. This extensive network involves monitoring up to 4,700 elements, including radios and devices across the sites. The system is powered by 8 DataMiner Agents and 8 Failover nodes, ensuring full geo-redundancy and a reliable monitoring framework for TDF’s vast broadcasting infrastructure.

DataMiner for shortwave radio
For TDF’s shortwave radio operations, DataMiner is employed to orchestrate both analog and DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale) transmissions. The system monitors and manages 12 transmitters, utilizing DataMiner Service and Resource Manager to automatically configure transmitters and antennas, streamlining TDF’s shortwave broadcasting efforts.
DataMiner at the Eiffel Tower
A single DataMiner Agent with Failover was set up to monitor all TV and radio transmissions at the iconic Eiffel Tower site. The redundancy ensures that TDF maintains uninterrupted services for one of its most critical broadcasting sites, ensuring continuous and high-quality service to more than 12 million listeners and viewers.
DataMiner monitoring all DVB-T transmission sites
DataMiner TNT allows TDF to monitor all DVB-T transmission sites in France and overseas, covering 14,000 elements and 7,000 services, including one UHD multiplex. This system is the most complex of all, involving 17 DataMiner Agents and 2 geo-redundant Cassandra and Elasticsearch clusters, each consisting of 9 Agents and 9 Failover nodes. Customers also benefit from monitoring information through a low-code app, enhancing transparency and engagement with TDF's clients.

04 — OUTCOME
Immediate gains and long-term value through digital transformation
While Digital Transformation is a continuous process, the deployment of DataMiner has already delivered significant tangible value to TDF in multiple ways.
Accelerated equipment provisioning
With DataMiner, TDF was able to quickly add and monitor new equipment, like the Eiffel Tower, closing operational blind spots in just weeks instead of months.
Enhanced customer engagement
Leveraging DataMiner's low-code technology, TDF could easily expose real-time operational data to its customers, dramatically improving customer satisfaction and engagement. This was done without extensive, time-consuming code development, showcasing the platform's flexibility.
Streamlined mission-critical operations
During high-pressure events, like the Olympic Games, TDF could quickly adapt its operational procedures by automating processes that once took months to implement, reducing development time to mere hours. This ensured service continuity, even under the most critical conditions.
In the long run, DataMiner empowers TDF to strategically drive its digital transformation, regardless of the challenges or opportunities that arise.
