Skyline joins world teleport association as industry patron member
Skyline Communications has joined the World Teleport Association (WTA) as an Industry Patron Member, strengthening collaboration on multi-orbit operations, government and defense services, and data-driven teleport operations.

“We’ve been a member of the World Teleport Association for more than a decade, actively contributing insights to industry reports and collaborating with peers across the ecosystem,” said Steven Soenens, VP Product Marketing at Skyline Communications. “Becoming an Industry Patron gives us access to even more opportunities to engage directly with teleport operators, share experiences from our long-standing engagement with telcos, contribute with technical expertise to WTA research initiatives, and help shape the future of satellite communications.”
Enabling multi-orbit and telecom-grade operations
“Satellite operators are facing a fundamentally new reality, one defined by multi-orbit, multi-vendor environments that require real-time orchestration and intelligence,” said Kurt Marlein, Satellite Market Director at Skyline Communications. “At the same time, satellites are becoming an integral part of the broader 3GPP and telecom ecosystem. This convergence is reshaping how satellite networks are designed and operated, including the adoption of telecom-grade OSS and BSS practices. DataMiner is uniquely positioned in this evolution, with widespread deployments across both satellite and telco networks.”
Today, the vast majority of WTA members rely on DataMiner to manage their operational environments. The platform is used for infrastructure management, service ordering and orchestration, as well as monitoring and service assurance. Through its powerful DataMiner xOps capabilities, DataMiner enables teleport operators to become highly data-driven organizations, delivering structural operational cost savings through automation, informed decision-making, and enhanced security operations (SecOps). The platform also supports continuous optimization of capital and operational expenditures, including connectivity and cloud costs (FinOps).

“More than 1,500 users across 125 countries rely on DataMiner to manage their mission-critical infrastructure, including satellite, teleport, and telecom operations,” Steven Soenens added. “That responsibility drives us to stay ahead of rapidly evolving industry trends, so we can help operators navigate the fundamental shift in how satellite networks are managed and orchestrated.”
Expanding focus on government and defense
To underscore the strategic importance of the satellite and defense segment within today’s telecommunications landscape, Skyline Communications has expanded its team with seasoned business development experts Hans Massart, Paul Sandoval, who is based in the USA, and Luc Hellebooge, who is focused exclusively on the defense vertical.
Randall Barney, Executive Director of the World Teleport Association, welcomes Skyline Communications as a new Industry Patron Member: “WTA members are increasingly delivering services for government and defense customers, reflecting the growing strategic importance of teleport infrastructure. In response, WTA is expanding its focus and research initiatives in this area to better support our members.”
“Industry Patron Members play a key role in supporting WTA’s research reports, which deliver value to all WTA members and the industry as a whole,” Barney continued. “Skyline Communications brings deep experience with dual-use technologies already trusted by commercial, governmental, and defense organizations. Their participation strengthens our ability to address the evolving operational, security, and orchestration challenges facing teleport operators today.”
