DAZN selects dataminer.MediaOps

DAZN, the leading global sports entertainment platform, has selected Skyline Communication’s DataMiner as its central digital transformation platform. The adoption of DataMiner will streamline DAZN’s broadcast scheduling and business planning, underscoring its fan-centric commitment to operational efficiency in a continuously expanding sports media landscape.

DataMiner’s Event and Job Scheduling application integrates with DAZN’s MediaGenix rights management platform What’sOn, and automatically extracts all sports event data, such as customer data, event start and stop dates, and facility information. With the DataMiner Service Catalog application, DAZN can then easily document the extensive set of service workflows in one easy-to-maintain centralized service catalog.

In the long term, DAZN is looking toward full automation and orchestration of the media routing in this data-driven industry. DataMiner will enable this journey as a vital component in building a more agile DevOps powerhouse.

Mark Billinge, VP Broadcast Engineering at DAZN, said, “As the business continues to grow and diversify, operations have become significantly larger and more complex with more content, more personalization, and more customers to engage across our platform. Having worked with DataMiner for monitoring, control, and automation in the past and having enjoyed positive results, we made the strategic decision to put DataMiner at the center of our digital journey. DataMiner’s innovative planning functions, workflow automation, and integration with BSS systems—including CRM and billing—made it the obvious partner for us. Our goal is to create a data-driven MediaOps operation, eliminating unnecessary manual and repeat actions, and improving service quality.”

Jonas Kockx, Consulting Solution Engineer, Skyline Communications, said, “Working with the DAZN team has been a real pleasure. Agile DevOps practices are all about delivering value fast, with the transformational DataMiner technology as a key enabler for this. Together with the DAZN DevOps team, we have made extensive use of DataMiner Low-Code Apps in combination with the MediaOps API to tailor applications to the user. Flexible scripted automation and orchestration, the DataMiner Integration Studio and CI/CD pipeline, as well as other DataMiner functions, allow the DAZN DevOps teams to own their processes. The results are quite impressive: a production version of quite complex sports and event scheduling and planning in only three months’ time. DAZN is now able to scale their digital journey independently, at their own pace, and following their own priorities, backed by the DevOps toolbox and the out-of-the-box MediaOps solution.”

Ben Vandenberghe, CEO of Skyline Communications, said, “Our mission is to deliver a digital transformation platform and an all-encompassing ecosystem of people and technology, which empowers users to create, innovate, and establish a powerful data-driven digital operation, relying on agile methodologies and DevOps practices to generate value. As a technology company, we continuously innovate our DataMiner core platform and services and our suite of DevOps tools.
