Skyline Communications' DataMiner xOps platform integrates with AWS Elemental MediaConnect to deliver cloud-native broadcast routing
Skyline Communications, the company behind the DataMiner xOps platform, the operating system for organizations with complex operational ecosystems, today announced a new integration between its platform and the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Elemental MediaConnect Router. The integration brings broadcast-grade routing control and operational management to cloud-native live video workflows running on AWS.

The solution enables broadcasters and content providers to manage live video routing across AWS global infrastructure through DataMiner’s unified operational interface. It combines the scalability and flexibility of cloud-native routing with control models and operational workflows that broadcast engineers already use in live production environments.
Bringing broadcast routing to the cloud without compromise
The AWS Elemental MediaConnect Router enables media organizations to dynamically route live video streams between sources and destinations entirely within the AWS network. By removing static point-to-point constraints, customers can switch live flows across regions in real time without reconfiguring underlying infrastructure. This approach simplifies the design and operation of complex, globally distributed live video workflows in the cloud.
The DataMiner xOps platform extends this capability with an operational control layer built on top of the MediaConnect Router APIs. Using DataMiner’s MediaOps framework, the integration provides:
- Intuitive XY routing panels: Broadcast‑style crosspoint control for real‑time signal switching, giving operators clear visibility into input and output assignments across regions.
- Scheduled routing operations: Automation of route changes based on time‑of‑day programming schedules, live event windows, and disaster recovery scenarios.
- Geographic service monitoring: End-to-end visibility of livestreams across multiple AWS regions, with dashboards that present routing status, stream health, and service performance from a single operational view.
A new operational model for live media
As broadcasters continue to adopt cloud infrastructure, a key challenge has been maintaining the responsiveness, reliability, and operational familiarity of traditional routing systems while taking advantage of cloud elasticity.
The integrated DataMiner and AWS Elemental MediaConnect Router solution addresses this by providing a production-ready operational model for cloud-based routing. Supporting SRT, RTP, and RIST protocols across the AWS private, high-performance global backbone, the solution enables the routing of contribution feeds from geographically distributed locations through a centralized cloud routing fabric using established broadcast operational workflows.
“We’re proud to continue our long-term collaboration with AWS Elemental,” said Thomas Gunkel, Global Market Director Broadcast at Skyline Communications. “This integration bridges scheduled and real-time operations and delivers far more than a traditional routing scheduler. Built on DataMiner’s MediaOps framework, it combines broadcast-style XY control with orchestration intelligence, ensuring resources are allocated and reserved at booking time while protecting live operations from conflicts. The solution is designed to be easily extended to dynamically create and retire sources and destinations in line with event schedules, enabling a truly elastic, cloud-based operational model as production needs evolve.”
Dynamic media facilities with built-in FinOps control
By abstracting cloud-native routing behind broadcast-proven operational models, the solution allows engineering and operations teams to work within familiar workflows while benefiting from AWS elasticity. Broadcasters can scale productions up or down with confidence, reduce operational risk for live events, and align cloud consumption with FinOps practices by using routing capacity only when production demand requires it.
Designed for multi-region deployments, the solution supports use cases such as global sports production, news contribution, linear distribution, and disaster recovery, without the capital expenditure and physical constraints associated with traditional routing infrastructure.
NAB Show 2026
The integration was demonstrated at NAB Show 2026, showcasing live contribution feeds routed through the AWS Elemental MediaConnect Router and managed in real time via the DataMiner xOps platform.
